IGA Hilton Airport City Hotel / Lobby Artworks
The art program developed by ALAN Project for İGA Hilton Airport Hotel was conceived as a holistic approach that responds to the architectural character of the hotel and the constantly moving atmosphere of the airport. Within the project, artworks were not positioned merely as decorative elements, but rather as integral components of the user experience, spatial movement, and architectural atmosphere.
The art approach developed for the hotel’s entrance and lobby areas is structured around the concepts of movement, flow, connection, and freedom. The artworks interact with the architectural circulation axes and vertical voids, supporting a sense of continuity throughout the space.
As part of this approach, Harmonic Motion was designed as a bronze-toned metal sculpture extending along the circulation area between the entrance and lobby. Suspended from the ceiling, its fluid form integrates with the dynamic atmosphere of the building, creating a sense of movement and a dynamic spatial experience.
Wings of Freedom
Located in the lobby entrance and circulation area, Wings of Freedom is a contemporary sculpture that expresses a sense of freedom and movement through a single fluid form. Its dynamic, wing-like form brings the essence of flight and forward motion into the space, inviting visitors to embark on a new journey.
The rhythmic curves of its bronze-toned metal surface create a changing visual experience as they interact with light. The sculpture’s rising form establishes a dialogue with the vertical movement of the lobby and the escalators, emphasizing the flow of the space.
Wings of Freedom approaches movement not only as a physical element, but also as a symbolic expression of progressing toward freedom and the future.
Silhouettes of Wings
Designed for the lobby of IGA Airport Hotel, Silhouettes of Wings is a contemporary wall artwork that brings the concepts of flight and movement into the space. Inspired by the flight of birds, a collection of distinct silhouettes come together in a dynamic composition, creating a continuous sense of flow and freedom.
The artwork brings together Istanbul’s local codes and cultural heritage with the concepts of sky and flight in civil aviation, while referencing the characteristic experience of movement, connection, and cultural exchange found within airports.
Within a modular grid, bird forms moving in different directions create a rhythmic sense of motion across the surface. In this way, the artwork functions not only as a wall piece, but also as a dynamic spatial element that supports the architectural character of the lobby and accompanies the journey experience.
The object selection in the lobby has been curated with carefully chosen pieces that complement the contemporary and refined character of the architecture. At the heart of this selection are small-scale sculptures specially produced by ALAN Project. With their fluid and organic forms, these works evoke the movement and sensation of flight, bringing the concepts of aviation, movement, and freedom into the space.
The sculptures are arranged alongside ceramics, decorative objects, and selected books, adding rhythm and layers to the shelving composition. Through variations in scale and material, each piece maintains its own character while collectively contributing to a distinctive and sophisticated artistic language throughout the lobby.
