At Canopy Istanbul Taksim, art becomes part of the hotel’s architectural and social experience, reinterpreting Istanbul’s cultural memory through a contemporary lens. The paintings, series, and wall works placed throughout the different spaces bring together narratives ranging from the streets of Tarlabaşı and the visual world of Yeşilçam to Istanbul’s theatre history and wine culture.

Yeşilçam Series

As one of Canopy Istanbul Taksim’s references to Istanbul’s cultural memory, the series reinterprets iconic figures of Turkish cinema through a contemporary and simplified visual language. Located in the lobby and elevator corridors, the portraits integrate with the hotel’s warm wood and natural material palette through earthy and skin tones, while bold color accents create visual focal points along the corridors.

Liquidity of Wine

Liquidity of Wine is a series that transforms the wine culture of the Wine House into a visual narrative. Inspired by the fluid movement of wine, its organic forms and tones of burgundy, red, pink, and earth integrate with the Wine House’s warm atmosphere, wooden details, and brick surfaces, bringing a dynamic character to the space.

Instagram Wall

Located in the lobby, Instagram Wall is an installation composed of circular compositions with a pop-art aesthetic. Bringing together different colors and imagery, the series complements the lobby’s social and dynamic atmosphere while creating a rhythmic visual composition across the wall. Its repetitive forms and vibrant colors add an energetic and contemporary character to the space.

Wine Barrel Wall Installation

Wine Barrel Wall Installation, located in the Wine House at Canopy Istanbul Taksim, is a distinctive wall installation that reinterprets the spatial memory of wine culture through a contemporary artistic approach. Inspired by the concept of Wine Cellar, the work transforms the traditional function of wine barrels into art objects, establishing a direct connection with the identity of the space.

The solid oak wine barrels, positioned at different heights and arrangements, evoke the atmosphere of an authentic wine cellar while creating an abstract composition through their translucent color applications and metal faucet details. Their rhythmic progression along the wall, following the line of the staircase, transforms the flow and production process of wine into a visual movement. In this way, the installation becomes more than a decorative element; it becomes an integral part of the Wine House’s narrative and atmosphere.

Canopy Istanbul Taksim’s artistic narrative extends the different layers of Istanbul throughout the hotel experience, bringing Beyoğlu’s living street culture into the accommodation areas, while reinterpreting the district’s historical character throughout the circulation spaces between floors.

The corridor artworks that continue across the floors highlight Beyoğlu’s historical fabric and urban memory. Traces drawn from old streets, architectural details, and the city’s layered visual character are reinterpreted through collage, geometric forms, and layers of color, bringing these elements into the hotel’s circulation spaces.

By bringing Beyoğlu’s present into the rooms and its past into the flow of the corridors, this approach transforms the hotel into an art experience deeply connected to the cultural memory of the district.

The Unconscious

Located in the relaxation areas of the gym, The Unconscious is an abstract work that complements the space’s calm atmosphere. Flowing layers in shades of blue and turquoise evoke the movement and depth of water, creating a contrast against the dark wall surface. The work enhances a sense of relaxation and renewal, contributing to a serene atmosphere.

Mirror Design

Used in the restrooms, the Mirror Design series brings together art and function as an integral part of the composition surrounding the mirrors. Different frames, patterns, and small-scale visuals blend with the interior’s dominant red and burgundy tones. The interplay between the reflective surfaces of the mirrors and the artworks adds depth and visual movement to the space.

At Canopy Istanbul Taksim, art extends across different scales of the space, reinterpreting Beyoğlu’s street culture, historical fabric, everyday life, and energy.
