Canopy by Hilton Taksim / Wall Art

Canopy by Hilton Taksim / Wall Art
As part of the art consultancy for Canopy Istanbul Taksim, a selection of wall art works has been developed specifically for different spaces throughout the hotel. The works create distinct narratives by establishing connections with Istanbul’s cultural fabric, the street life of Tarlabaşı, and the project’s contemporary design approach.
Each artwork is considered in relation to the atmosphere and experience of its location, creating a distinctive connection between art and space. This section explores the wall artworks featured throughout the project and the relationships they establish with their surroundings.
Streets of Tarlabaşı
Streets of Tarlabaşı reinterprets the lively, layered, and ever-changing street fabric of Tarlabaşı through an abstract surface. Inspired by the concept of Barks of Tarlabaşı, the work brings the movement, accumulated traces, and rhythm of the street to life through overlapping organic forms, colors, and textures.
Positioned behind the reception desk, this large-scale work forms a strong part of Canopy Istanbul Taksim’s approach to reinterpreting Istanbul’s local character through a contemporary artistic language. Like a story carried indoors from the street, the work forms the first layer of the hotel’s artistic narrative.
Bedia Muvahhit & Afife Jale
Located in Canopy Central, the wall artworks featuring Bedia Muvahhit and Afife Jale bring pioneering female figures of Turkish theatre history into the space through a contemporary visual language. Both works emphasize the connection between art, women, and stage culture, supporting Canopy Istanbul Taksim’s approach of reinterpreting Istanbul’s cultural memory through contemporary art.
Bedia Muvahhit is represented as one of the pioneering women artists who appeared in cinema and theatre during the early years of the Republic, while Afife Jale stands out as the first Muslim Turkish woman to perform on the Turkish theatre stage. Together, these portraits bring more than representations of important figures from the past; they carry into the space a story of taking the stage, becoming visible, and cultural transformation.

Grocery Memories
Grocery Memories, located in the Gym at Canopy Istanbul Taksim, is a wall artwork that brings the energy and movement of everyday life into the space. Sporting figures and graphic expressions complement the dynamic atmosphere of the gym while reinterpreting the colorful and spontaneous moments of daily life. Here, movement becomes art itself.
Series of Line – Art Children
Series of Line – Art Children, located in the Gym, interprets the energetic and free-spirited world of children through a linear visual language. Figures composed of fine metal lines and colorful surfaces create a rhythmic flow across the walls, enhancing the dynamic character of the space. Here, the line becomes a trace of movement. The artwork is created using 3–5 mm aluminum, acrylic paint, and fiberglass.
Street Art Dialogues
Located on the main wall of the Gym, Street Art Dialogues brings together the aesthetic of graffiti with the energy of sport. Vibrant colors, typographic expressions, and overlapping graphic layers give the space a bold and youthful character while reinforcing its sense of movement. The wall becomes more than a backdrop; it transforms into an active surface that carries the energy of the space.
Paint With Your Heart
Paint With Your Heart is a large-scale wall artwork located in Canopy Central. Bringing together graffiti, fragments of posters, typographic expressions, and layers of paint, the work brings the vibrant and layered street culture of Taksim into the interior. Accents of yellow, red, and green, combined with warm earthy tones, give the social space a bold and dynamic character.
The artworks featured throughout the guest rooms draw inspiration from Beyoğlu’s street art and everyday life, bringing the dynamic visual language of the streets into the interior through typography, collage, graphic interventions, and vibrant layers of color. This approach continues the hotel’s contemporary and energetic artistic language on a more intimate scale, incorporating the present-day, living character of Beyoğlu into the guest experience.
